And then I discovered this fantastic megathread at r/MakeupAddiction where the makeup aficionados there listed all the popular foundation shades that matched their skin tones.

- So many of you are confused as to what the difference is between MAC's foundation shades (C, NC, N, W, NW). Its pretty simple unless your really rubbish at remembering! C - Stands for Cool. I myself go between NC30 and NC40.
- Here's the swatch of NC40: I got the shades NC40 and NC42, there is an accurate jump of 2 shades between these 2 shades, but because of its peachy undertones I can't quite determine which of the 2 shades I prefer, I used up the NC42 mixing it with my MAC Face and Body in C3.
I wanted to make that super useful resource easier to use, so I've extracted the shade info from the thread and sorted it by MAC shade.
